I’ll also be using this opportunity to raise funds for the SickKids Foundation, a cause that is close to my heart. Founded in 1875 in Toronto, Ontario, by Elizabeth McMaster, the Hospital for Sick Children—now known as SickKids—has always been dedicated to its mission: that fighting for the health of children is the best way to improve society. SickKids Foundation, the hospital's fundraising arm, works tirelessly to inspire communities to invest in health and scientific advancements that improve the lives of children and their families in Canada and around the world. They are leaders in pediatric care and are committed to delivering exceptional results, offering support and hope to sick children and their families as they heal and rebuild their lives.
I truly believe that every child deserves the chance to enjoy a normal childhood—to explore, to grow, and to dream big. I was lucky to have that kind of start in life, but I know that not every child gets the same opportunity. If there's something I can do to support SickKids Foundation in giving more children and their families those moments together, then rowing across an ocean feels like the least I can do. I know that these children don’t just get the option to quit and so neither will I.
